Roger Thurman
THURMAN, ROGER D., 78, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at his residence. Born in Anderson County, KY, he was the son of the late James Herbert and Ida Lillian Bowen Thurman. A United States Army veteran of the Korean War, Thurman received several medals including the Purple Heart. He later worked for General Electric Appliance Park where he retired as a shift supervisor with 36 years of service. A 50-year member and Past Master of Solomon Lodge No. 5 of Free and Accepted Masons of Shelbyville, he was also a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite and a member of Fern Creek Christian Church. Mr. Thurman is survived by his wife, Joyce W. Thurman; sons, Alan and Stephen Thurman; a daughter, Denise Searcy; a sister, Pat Brooks, all of Louisville; and three grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville with visitation 5-9p.m. Friday.
