Thomas C. "Tommy" Sampson,
Jr., 59, passed away peacefully
on December 25th with his family
at bedside at the Hosparus
In-patient Unit in Louisville. A
native of Frankfort, he
currently was a supervisor of
Yellow Ambulance Service in
Louisville. During his life, he
was the founder and a past
director of Shelby County
Emergency Medical Services and a
former coroner for Shelby
County. He belonged to the
Solomon Masonic Lodge #5, the
Waddy Masonic Lodge #662, Kosair
Shriners, and the Shelbyville
Fraternal Order of Police #51.
He was appointed an honorary
Kentucky Guardsman and had
attained Master Coroner status
with the Kentucky State
Coroner's Association. He was
also a Kentucky Colonel. He also
served his community by being a
former Shelby County constable,
a former chief of police of
Eminence, and a deputy sheriff
under Sheriff Tom Lincoln. He
was a former chairman of the
Shelbyville Red Cross, a former
chairman of the Shelbyville
Resource Center, and the past
chairman of the Local Emergency
Planning Committee.
He is survived by his wife,
Beverly A. Sampson of
Shelbyville; his son, Clark
Sampson (Melinda) of
Pleasureville; his sister,
Barbara Doggette (David) of
Bagdad; and his grandchildren
Jimmy, Collin, and Madison
Sampson, all of Pleasureville.
Funeral: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday,
December 29th at the Clay Street
Baptist Church with the Rev.
Ronald Holder, the Rev. Randy
Brown, and Norris Beckley
officiating. Visitation: 12-8
p.m. Tuesday at the Shannon
Funeral Home and 11 am-1 pm
Wednesday at the Clay Street
Baptist Church. Masonic Service:
8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Shannon
Funeral Home. Burial: Bagdad
Cemetery.
