Eugene M. Lindsey, 88, of Shelbyville died Tuesday, Sept. 8,
2009, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville.
He was born in Cropper and was a graduate of Bagdad High
School. He was a transport driver for Chevron Oil Company. He
was a Shelby County deputy sheriff 1984-1990 and a Shelby County
constable 1968-1970.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Shelbyville for
more than 50 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member and past president of Shelbyville Kiwanis Club;
member and past master of Solomon Lodge No. 5, Free and Accepted
Masons; past District Deputy and Grand Master 1970, Grand Lodge
of Kentucky; member and past Worthy Grand Patron, Shelbyville
Chapter 170, Order of the Eastern Star; member and Board of
Directors, American Red Cross; member more than 21 years,
Shelbyville/Shelby County Parks and Recreation, Board of
Directors; lifetime member, Post 1179 V.F.W. and Post No. 47 of
the American Legion; and member, Honorable Order of Kentucky
Colonels.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Sudduth Lindsey; a son,
Marshall L. Lindsey of Anchorage; a daughter, Genie L. Moffett
of Shelbyville; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of
Shelbyville. The Revs. Stephen Rice, Jesse Baxter and Geoffrey
McGillen will officiate. Burial will be in Bagdad Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 pm. Thursday at the funeral home.
