John R. "Jack" Langley, 90, of Shelbyville died Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville. He was a member of Shelbyville First Christian Church where he served as Deacon, treasurer and part time teacher of the Upper Room Bible Class. He was a U S Army veteran serving during WWII. He was employed by A & P for 43 years and J.T.'s for 15 years. He was a member of VFW, American Legion and Solomon's Lodge #5 F & AM and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Georgia Smith Langley and his son, Sam Langley. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bessie Bone Langley; son, Robert Bone "Bob" Langley (Donna), both of Shelbyville; daughter/granddaughter, Dorinda Langley Mullins, Lexington; granddaughters, Alison Langley, Shelbyville; Melissa Askew (John), Graefenburg; 6 great grandchildren and sister, Betty Langley, Bowling Green. Funeral services will be 9:30 A.M. Monday, August 8th at the Shelbyville First Christian Church with Dr. David Charlton officiating. Visitation will be 12:30-7:00 P.M. Sunday, August 7th at the Shannon Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisionville, KY.
