SHELBYVILLE GREENE, TOLBERT E., 86, passed away Tuesday,
27 May 2008 in Durham, NC. A native of Shelby County, he was the son
of the late Tolbert and Ollie Elizabeth Waits Greene and was the widower
of the late Faye Childress Greene. Mr. Greene's vocational career began in
Kentucky State Government in Frankfort where he worked for the Office of
the Secretary of State and the Office of the Clerk of the Kentucky Court of
Appeals. At his retirement, he was Director of Enrollment for Anthem Blue
Cross and Blue Shield of Kentucky. A member of the First Baptist Church of
Shelbyville, he was a four-year Navy veteran of World War II and held memberships
in the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Kosair Shrine Temple; the Kentucky
Farm Bureau and Middletown Rotary Club. An avid golfer and sports fan, he
was also a dedicated follower of the University of Kentucky Athletics Program.
Tolbert is survived by three daughters, Ellen G. Colclough, Janet Schoenfeld and
Amy Greene; five grandchildren, Kristen and Elise Key, Zach, Stephen and Jennifer
Schoenfeld all of Durham, North Carolina; and a brother, Roe Greene of Wilmington,
NC. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Saturday at Hall-Taylor Funeral
Home of Shelbyville with Reverend Richard Luebbert officiating. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial
Park in Louisville. Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Friday at Hall-Taylor. Expressions of sympathy may take the form
