Dr. Charles E. Chatham Jr., DMDCharles E. Chatham, Jr., D.M.D., 86, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. Dr. Chatham was a graduate of Manual High School and attended Georgetown College and the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Victory Baptist Church. Dr. Chatham faithfully served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II in which he flew in "the last mission." He also served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War as a dentist. He practiced dentistry for 59 years until September 2010. He was a member of the Shelbyville Rotary Club. He was also a Mason, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity, and a member of the Kentucky Dental Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Thelma Chatham; his brother, Dr. Donald Chatham, his son, Gerald Lancaster Chatham; and one granddaughter, Missy Louise Gipson. Survivors include cherished daughters, Lois Charlyne Chatham of Louisville, Star Chatham of Louisville, and Lucy Chatham Kerman (Mark) of Prospect; his beloved sons, Charles E. Chatham, III (Janie) of Anniston, AL and Robert Sutton Chatham (Karen) of New Jersey; his sisters, Shirley Hood (Nigel) of Lynden and Inez Chatham of Shelbyville; and 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral service is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30th, at Shannon Funeral Home with burial in Grove Hill Cemetery with Dr. Fred Moffatt officiating. Visitation is at Shannon Funeral Home, Friday, October 29th, from 3-9 p.m.
