Harold E. Burge, 79, died Thursday, November 13th in Shelbyville. He was a native and resident of Shelby County, but lived in Frankfort for many years. He was the owner and operator of Convenient Food Marts in Shelbyville for over 40 years. He was a member of the Shelbyville First Baptist Church and was also a member of the Solomon Masonic Lodge #5 where he was a past Master. He served on the Masonic Homes of Kentucky Board of Directors and was also a director of the Shelby County Industrial Foundation. He was a founding member of the Shelby County Suburban Fire District and on the Board of Directors for the Bank of Shelbyville (Liberty National Bank)

He is survived by his wife, Betty Cardwell Burge of Shelbyville; his daughters, Teresa Smith (Jim) and Ruth Hodge (Tom), both of Shelbyville; his son, Mark H. Burge (Julie) of Birmingham, AL; his grandsons, Carl, Ryan, and Adam Smith and John and Benjamin Burge; his granddaughters, Vickie Hodge Fields and Melissa Hodge Newton; 4 great grandchildren; his brother, Kenneth Burge (Ora) of Frankfort; and his sister, Catherine Young of Frankfort.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Shannon Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday and 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will also be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort.
