James " Jake" Bowman, 85, of Shelbyville passed away Monday March 28, 2011 at the Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville.

He was a member of the Elk Creek Baptist Church, Solomon Lodge # 5 F & AM, and an Army Veteran of World War II. He was a retired employee for the GE Appliance Park.

Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Katherine Turner Bowman.

Survivors include; son, Jim Bowman, Cincinnati, OH; step sons, William "PeWee" Dawson, Shelbyville, KY and Robert "Bobby" Dawson, Waddy, KY; grandson, Travis, Bowman.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday April 2, 2011 at the Shannon Funeral Home with Rev. Jesse Baxter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday until the funeral hour.
