Edris Belcher age 78 of Russellville passed away Monday Jan. 10, 2011 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was the son of the late Claird and Myrtle Lee Belcher. Mr. Belcher was born on August 3, 1932 in Logan County. He was the former Police Chief of Shelbyville, KY and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Shelbyville Metro Lodge #51, Solomon’s Masonic Lodge #5 in Shelbyville, and was a Kentucky Colonel. Mr. Belcher was a United State Marine Corp Veteran, of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Guptons Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; Margaret Belcher, a daughter; Vanessa Childress and husband Danny of Louisville, KY, 2 brothers; Mayburn Belcher and Gene Belcher both of Leitchfield, KY, 2 grandchildren; Danny Dale Childress and Larisa Crawley both of Louisville, KY.

Funeral services for Edris Belcher will be conducted 11:00 am Friday Jan. 14, 2011 at Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Bro. Chris Skipworth officiating, burial will follow in Smith Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday and after 8:00 am Friday until the funeral hour. A Masonic service will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home. The family request contributions be made to the Guptons Grove Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Belcher. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
